Sheepherder’s Festival – May 8th & 9th, 2026

Come for an hour or stay all day. It is going to be a great day.

Join us Saturday, May 9 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in Gillette for a full day celebrating sheep ranching heritage and Basque culture. Explore sheepwagons from across the region and experience demonstrations that bring this way of life to life.

Enjoy live music from the Lander Pipe and Drum, traditional dances from the Big Horn Basque Club, and storytelling from Basque historian, musician, and poet David Romtvedt.

Families will find plenty to do with kids activities, sheep shearing, blacksmithing, and a dog trial, alongside a farmer’s market and local artists and vendors. Be sure to grab the Camino Family Lukainka lunch, available for purchase and a festival favorite.

Sheepherder’s Dinner: Limited number of tickets avaliable
